Old CofG yard
Title:  Old CofG yard
Description:  Old CofG yard in Dothan Alabama. Tracks are identified from right to left: Mainline, short pass, coal track (so named due to coaling steam locomotives on this track many years ago), House track (where H&S 110 rests), outside track, middle, and press track (so named due to there being a cotton compress located alongside this track years ago).

LRSX 110 in NS yard
Title:  LRSX 110 in NS yard
Description:  LRSX 110 sits on the east end of the NS yard at Hilton enroute to it's new assignment. Most recently it had worked on the Hartford and Slocomb, one of the Gulf and Ohio lines. It has been relettered for several months and with the recent sale of the H&S to the G&W shortlines it appears the G&O is finally moving it elsewhere.

CofG local from Albany GA to Dothan AL
Title:  CofG local from Albany GA to Dothan AL
Description:  The Southern takeover of the CofG is evident in this 1969 look at the Dothan district local using tuxedo scheme power lettered for the Central of Georgia. This is the route that used spacer cars, seen here, due to weight restrictions over the Chattahoochee River trestle which is only 2 miles west of the location where this photo was taken. The coming of the Farley Nuclear plant near Columbia and the heavy loads destined to it would make a new trestle necessary and in a few years after this picture was taken it would be in place and would end the need for the spacer cars.

Hartford and Slocomb power
Title:  Hartford and Slocomb power
Description:  Georgia Railroad 1026 was used on the Hartford and Slocomb not long before it became a property of G&O in 2003. Amazing that in the year 2000 it was still pretty much in a full GARR paint scheme. I believe this locomotive is now at the TVRM.

Title:  Former CofG GP7 seen
Description:  A former Central of Georgia GP7 is seen at the shops of the Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad which had been all ALCO prior to the arrival of this unit. The CIRR renumbered it 1830 and named it "The Best Friend" in honor of the Best Friend of Charleston which first operated in 1830 over trackage that became part of the Southern Railway System.
