SD40-2's return to the Bayline
Title:  SD40-2's return to the Bayline
Description:  SD40-2's return to the Bayline. Many years ago the Bayline had an SD40 on the roster. It left during one of the numerous ownership shanges for the Bayline. Since then the Bayline has been basically all GP38 with a few exceptions. GWI, the Bayline's owner, recently bought the nearby Georgia Southwestern. The 2 SD40-2's seen here are from the GSWR. The Bayline sent a pair of GP38's to the GSWR in exchange for the SD's seen here. The SD's are seen here on the Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad, another GWI road. The SD's moved via Bainbridge GA to Saffold over CSX, then over the CIRR to Hilton where they will travel to Dothan AL and the Bayline via the Chattahoochee Bay, still another GWI road.

Chattahoochee Bay local
Title:  Chattahoochee Bay local
Description:  The Chattahoochee Bay local has arrived at Hilton GA with an odd locomotive consist of 2 GP38's and a former CIRR SW1500. The CIRR 1505 is the last unit in a CIRR paint scheme in the area. It is faded and well worn but still a reminder of another era. Right behind the locomotives are 28 carloads of pipe from Panama City FL destined to a project in the Griffin GA area. The CHAT had 72 cars to deliver to the NS on this date and due to the heavy grade from the river to Hilton, they could only bring the 28 carloads of pipe. They cut the rest of the train off in Columbia. They went back and got it as soon as they got the pipe loads yarded.

Chattahoochee Bay power
Title:  Chattahoochee Bay power
Description:  The Chattahoochee Bay has a somewhat odd line up today. Former NS (the original one) GP38 is long hood forward and leads another GP38 and a SW1500 still in a faded CIRR paint scheme. The track they are sitting on is actually past of the CIRR so the SW1500 is on home rails once again. Their train, including 28 carloads of pipe, can be seen in the background on the former CofG/Southern line to Dothan AL.

Title:  Lots of orange and black
Description:  Power used by GWI subsidiaries CIRR and Hilton and Albany RR is seen in the CIRR yard in Hilton. I think that was me that told you to get the photos of these units in their classic schemes before the corporate scheme became the order of the day...remember?? And while a good looking scheme, a lot of the classic are falling by the wayside.
