Head on shot of former VRE locomotives
Title:  Head on shot of former VRE locomotives
Description:  Looking head on at a former Virginia Rail Express locomotive, now owned by GWI and used on their various lines in the Dothan AL area, seen leading an empty Scherer coal train at Columbia AL, an odd outpost for such a move. Perhaps GWI will the storing the train on their lines somewhere.

Odd sight
Title:  Odd sight
Description:  Former Virginia Rail Express locomotives, now owned by GWI and working their various short lines in the Dothan AL area, are seen on the head end of a empty Scherer coal train. I am not sure how many cars are in the train but I would estimate over 100 as they go out of sight before I can see the last car. My only guess is GWI will be storing this train somewhere on the system perhaps on the old spur that goes to the Farley Nuclear plant near Columbia.

CIRR shops
Title:  CIRR shops
Description:  An overview of the CIRR shops in Cedar Springs GA reveals an old sanding tower, a former VRE locomotive that is probably a few weeks away from a coat of corporate orange/black paint, and the old piggyback ramp from when the CIRR offered piggyback service.

Former Salt Lake City Southern unit
Title:  Former Salt Lake City Southern unit
Description:  A former Salt Lake City Southern unit now stenciled for the Valdosta (GA) Railroad sits on the former CofG mainline to Dothan having just arrived from Dothan. The unit on the left in the GWI scheme is a former Virginia Rail Express unit. The trackage it is on is the CIRR mainline to Cedar Springs. The SLC unit, just out of the shops in Panama City FL, will continue east on the Hilton and Albany RR local. I understood it was headed for the GSWR railroad in Bainbridge. All the lines mentioned are part of GWI.

The Chattahoochee Bay local
Title:  The Chattahoochee Bay local
Description:  The CHAT local between Dothan and Hilton is oftenused to ferry locomotives between the mechanical shops at Panama City FL, the paint shop at Cedar Springs GA, and to Hilton to be forwarded on to numerous GWI lines in the area. Todays CHAT local has former Luxapella Valley GP38 trailing and enroute to the paint shop at Cedar Springs. This unit spent many years on the nearby GSWR. No doubt it will emerge from the paint shop in the corporate GWI orange/black. As to which road it will be stenciled for, it is anybodies guess.
